Global Healthworks Foundation has been working in Guatemala for 5+ years. During that time, we've treated more than 56,000 patients from rural indigenous communities throughout the Department of Quiché. Global Healthworks Foundation thinks beyond immediate treatment and healthcare delivery by planning for the sustainable accessibility of our community-based medical outreach programs. This short video clip explains how we train local health promoters in our Quiché-based activities to ensure the prolonged impact of our work.

Seven years ago at age seven, Brian was a patient at our first Jornada de Salud Integral (medical mission), a young kid with mobility challenges in all four limbs. It’s heartwarming to see him this week at age fourteen volunteering with the logistics team at our current clinic! And now, he wants to be a doctor!

A recent stroke survivor: “In just thirty-five days, I can already move my hand and foot. Already I feel a lot better!”

Norma is the coordinator of our medical service work at Mis Años Dorados, a wonderful senior center. In this short video clip she talks about the impact of GHF’s work with the “ancianitos” – with one elder saying: “I am going to live to be 100 years old!” Thanks Norma!

Luciano has been GHF’s local administrator in Guatemala for over eight years -- since Day-01! He has witnessed our growth over the years as we have become a valuable and sustainable initiative that empowers communities. He states: “I am certain the work we are doing is changing lives and we are helping many people.”

Walther is a gifted Mayan Spiritual Guide and GHF Health Promoter. Listen to his message about the importance of prevention: “It is better to prevent than to seek healing later.”

Sebastiana is a gifted Mayan Medicine Woman with a family lineage practicing community service. Veteran GHF Volunteer Julie has been providing medical outreach for more than thirteen years! In this short video clip she discusses how Chinese medicine modalities are well suited for treating conditions found among our patient population.

Veteran GHF Volunteer Spencer offers our patients much more than superficial massage treatments. In this short video clip she states: “My biggest thing is Education.” And, she talks about how she makes her patients feel better with postural re-education, breathing, stretching, and at-home exercises.

In this video, GHF Founder Dan Wunderlich describes the free healthcare services that are provided to medically underserved communities in Quiché, Guatemala. These comprehensive services take into account all aspects of the patient’s health -- the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. The treatment modalities include: auricular acupuncture to manage stress, full-body acupuncture to regulate the body’s anatomical systems and to manage pain, therapeutic massage, natural plant medicine, Reiki energy, and special body-movement exercises that patients can repeat at home to continue their own healing. “It is clear that everyone leaves the clinic very happy!”
