This short video explains how Global Healthworks Foundation thinks beyond immediate treatment and healthcare delivery by planning for the sustainable accessibility of our community-based medical outreach programs. Two-three times a year, GHF volunteers and our Quiché-based team of local health promoters participate in large-scale medical missions, which offer services to some twelve-fifteen hundred patients in a span of just five or six days. Our Mobile Clinic program expands acupuncture accessibility by literally bringing the medicine of acupuncture to these underserved communities. This short video includes several volunteer commentaries and patient testimonials attesting to the impact of their high-quality, cost-free treatments.
As one can imagine, the effects of Covid-19 added further hardship on a population already suffering extreme poverty and violence - and this is especially the case in the Mayan communities in Guatemala. To continue our humanitarian goals, Global Healthworks Foundation (GHF) launched our Covid-19 Response Initiative to deliver Coronavirus Prevention and Wellness Kits to families in need. The kits are designed to minimize the effect of the global pandemic on families, and they contain healthy food staples, face masks, natural plant medicines, and instruction materials to help educate people on steps they can take to prevent and respond to the spread of the coronavirus. This short video highlights our outreach efforts to deliver the wellness kits to families in need following strict physical distancing and sanitation guidelines.

The local television Channel 4 television station interviewed Benita Us Ixquin, the mother of Brian, one of our favorite young visitors to Global Healthworks Foundation outreach clinics in Quiché, Guatemala. Brian originally presented a few years ago with limb pain, unable to walk without using a chair as crutches. Local doctors were unable (or unwilling) to help him, and luckily his Mom brought him to a GHF jornada (Medical Health Camp). He has received regular treatments from our mobile clinic team and today he is active in playtime activities, walking just fine!

Often with simple words and gestures, you made each of us feel extremely special. We are especially grateful to have been the recipients of your warm and frequent embraces that nourished our emotional well-being. You will always be remembered as a gentle giant with a generous spirit, and for your genuine advocacy for others – including the marginalized and less fortunate.
We have been truly honored and blessed to have your presence and guidance among us.
